Really fun game to play casually with friends.Worth it.. I went into The Yawhg expecting something like a Visual Novel emulating a tabletop session. 7 minutes later, I realized what I paid $10 for was a Visual Novel emulating a character sheet. You spend a few days building your heroes with jobs and chores, and the game ends with a pass/fail test determined by what stats you built. It’s the charming, quirky, digital equivalent of drawing straws, and while the Yawhg may be a good case study for developers looking to make choose-your-own-adventure type games in the future, it offers very little for people wanting an enjoyable experience now.. I love this game.I already knew Emily Carroll from her book Through the Woods, and being a big fan of her art I figured this game would be worth checking out. This is a great game to play either on your own or with friends. The events are varied and imaginative, the world is intriguing, and the art is of course gorgeous. The endings are what really make the game for me. Depending on how you did you get one of a couple of outcomes, and while it's simple enough to get the good ending if that's all you care about there is more to it than that. I still remember my first ending, I did ok but slowly the town dwindled and died out, and over it all the spectacularly bitter-sweetly mournful song (Oceans) plays. That's the other thing about this game, the music. The music is fantastic, and while there isn't a sountrack available on steam I would strongly recommend going and buying it from their bandcamp.. The Yawhg is a seemingly quick game with not much to do on the surface, but first glances of this game would be wrong. With a wonderful aesthetic, beautiful music and images, and a strong if loose narrative, The Yawhg is a beautiful and refreshing game you can pick up for 10-20 minutes at a time. The characters do not have much of a personality on their own, instead you sort of put your own will upon them and their options and events open to them change depending on their stats and previous choices. Saying that, you can end up with vastly different characterizations even using the same two people over and over again. The game supports up to 4 characters working in the world at once, and can in fact even be treated as a hotseat multiplayer game. The choices and tasks you do in the game have deep and lasting effects, completely changing which avenues are open to you while keeping all avenues of adventure open. The Yawhg presents a rich and satisfying game, beautiful in looks and story. Filled with melancholy and whimsy the Yawhg is suitable for anyone looking for a good time.. I really love this game!- Great Art- Cute stories & easter eggs- Awesome music- Amazing characters- VERY CUTE STEAM EMOTES!https://store.steampowered.com/app/269030/The_Yawhg/#For the price of an underwhelming salad at a restaurant you don't even wanna be in, I would really, dearly recommend this game. The kinda game you can play and fall asleep to comfortably. It always gives me a wholesome feeling, and I tend to play it when I'm sad or feel lonely :)
